Welcome to Fieldtool

Fieldtool is a working space for writers, editors, researchers, and small publications. It gathers desk notes, bookmarks, collections, art records, author page records, and archive shelves into one practical place.

This is an early testing version. The aim of this stage is to make the main tools clear, reliable, phone-friendly, and pleasant to use in ordinary editorial work.

What you can do here

  • Save and organise bookmarks
  • Create collections for issues, projects, contributors, and reading trails
  • Add desk notes, reminders, editorial fragments, diary notes, and code notes
  • Keep art and illustration records beside the written work
  • Use the working toolbar for items you return to often
  • Use Find & Recover when something has been stored away or filed elsewhere

Find & Recover

The Desk now includes a Find & Recover card. It gives quick access to three different kinds of record:

  • My Website Pages — author page ownership and control records
  • My Publication Archive — published works selected for archive listing
  • Fieldtool Storage Archive — stored-away Desk, Art, and Bookmark material

What we would like you to test

  • Can you log in and find the Desk easily?
  • Can you save a quick idea from your phone?
  • Can you find that idea again?
  • Do save, edit, archive, restore, and delete actions behave as expected?
  • Are labels, buttons, and messages understandable?
  • Are there broken links or awkward steps?

Phone-first testing

Fieldtool is meant to work when an idea arrives away from the desk. Please try it on a phone as well as a laptop.

  • Log in on the phone
  • Add a quick Desk entry
  • Save it
  • Find it again
  • Open Find & Recover
  • Check that buttons wrap cleanly and pages remain readable

How to report a problem

Please note the page, what you tried to do, what happened instead, and whether the same thing happens again when repeated.

A screenshot is always useful when something looks odd.

If the problem happens only on one phone or browser, please mention that too.

Suggested first run

  1. Log in.
  2. Create or open a collection.
  3. Add a bookmark.
  4. Add a desk entry.
  5. Pin or toolbar one useful item.
  6. Open the Desk and check Find & Recover.
  7. Open the Art page.
  8. Check whether you can find your saved material again without hunting for it.
