Copyright & publication rights
Your copyright before publication
Submitting work to The Linnet's Wings does not transfer your copyright. Saving a draft or sending a submission does not give the magazine ownership of your work.
If your work is accepted for publication, you will be asked to agree to the publication terms before the work is published.
Under our current standard publication arrangement, copyright in accepted work transfers to The Linnet's Wings for one year from the date of publication. After that year, copyright returns to the contributor.
The contributor also agrees that the published work may remain available in The Linnet's Wings archive and may be reproduced in later editions or reissues connected with the magazine in which it was published.
These archive and later-edition permissions continue after copyright has returned to the contributor.
The individual publication agreement supplied after acceptance will identify the accepted work and will contain the terms applying to that publication.
Your work remains yours unless it is accepted and you agree to the publication terms.
Editorial standards
Work submitted in good faith is welcome
The Linnet's Wings welcomes strong opinions, difficult subjects and work that challenges the reader. We do not accept abuse presented as argument.
Spam, trolling, rants, personal attacks, harassment, racist or homophobic abuse, other discriminatory abuse, hate speech, or submissions intended to demean or intimidate an individual or group will not be accepted or tolerated.
Literary work may of course explore difficult, disturbing or controversial subjects. The distinction is between exploring such material and using a submission to attack or abuse people.
Work submitted in good faith is welcome. Abusive behaviour is not.
