For our Halloween magazine, we're looking for work that moves through the darker corners of the imagination: hauntings and old houses, folklore and superstition, strange encounters, uneasy landscapes, transformations, absences, memories that refuse to remain buried — and the things we glimpse only when the light begins to fail. We welcome poetry, fiction, flash and micro fiction, creative non-fiction, art and photography. Gothic, unsettling, mysterious, playful or quietly uncanny are all welcome. The work does not have to frighten us; sometimes the most haunting thing is simply what cannot quite be explained. Send us something that leaves the door slightly open. Christmas has its own music: bells and voices, remembered rooms, winter streets, candlelight, kitchens, journeys home — and the silences that gather around them. For A Christmas Canzonette, we invite poetry, short prose, flash fiction, memories, art and photography inspired by Christmas and the winter season. We're interested in celebration and wonder, but also in distance, longing, humour, family, solitude, tradition, faith, change and the small human moments that survive beneath all the ceremony.
